Start your Swiss trip in Zurich, and after sightseeing here, take the scenic train ride to Lucerne and visit Mt. Titlis. Later, you visit the resort town of Interlaken and you then visit Montreux and go on an excursion to Rochers-de-Naye. You reach the last destination, Geneva and after a round of sightseeing the beautiful places in Switzerland, you head back home from Zurich.

  • On Day 1, you arrive in Zurich, the largest city in Switzerland and you have the day to spend in leisure.
  • On Day 2, you embark on a Zurich City Tour, visiting the highlights of Zurich, and you even take a cogwheel train ride to catch the magnificent views of the city of Zurich.
  • On Day 3, you move to Lucerne by train, and here you go up the famed Mount Titlis by cableway.
  • On Day 4, from Lucerne, you now move to the resort town of Interlaken.

ITINERARY

DAY 1

Arrive in Zurich

On arrival in Switzerland, check-in and then you are on your own and you can go travelling around Zurich. You stay overnight in Zurich.

Zurich is Switzerland’s largest city and is one of the most important financial and commercial centers of the country. After you arrive, and depending on the time you reach here, if you have time, don’t miss checking out the world-famous shopping avenue of Bahnhofstrasse or you can go on a nice long stroll along the banks of Lake Zurich.

DAY 2

Zurich City Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, you get to enjoy a 2-hour city tour, and you get to see a couple of interesting places in this lively, vibrant city.

You should check out the Old Town, the Chagall Windows and go on a ride on the cogwheel railway “Dolderbahn” which takes you to a beautiful viewing point high up above Zurich.

You stay overnight in Zurich.

DAY 3

Lucerne and Mount Titlis

After breakfast at the hotel, you take a beautiful train ride to your next destination, Lucerne and check in at the hotel.

Afterwards, you are taken on an excursion to Mount Titlis which stand at 3020 m. Mount Titlis is a well-known tourist destination in Switzerland. It is the highest glacier tour destination and is also one of the largest snowboarding and skiing spots in Central Switzerland. The place can be accessed via a cableway. The place is breathtakingly beautiful, and it qualifies as a must-see and must-view while in Switzerland.

You stay overnight in Lucerne.

DAY 4

Bernese Oberland and Interlaken

After breakfast, you continue on your Switzerland Peaks tour, and move over the Brünig pass on to the resort town of Interlaken and check in at the hotel. The resort town of Interlaken lies in the Bernese Oberland. The place neatly sits between two lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. It is also in the heart of the famous Mount Jungfrau and offers great views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau summits.

You have the rest of day that can be spent in leisure. You stay overnight in Interlaken.

DAY 5

Jungfraujoch

You embark on an excursion to the Jungfraujoch from Interlaken. This is the highest train station in Europe at 3454 m. The place feels every bit like a winter wonderland. As you arrive here, the cold, icy air streams blow across your face and you are captivated by the beautiful environs. On one side, it is the eye-catching views of the Mittelland all the way up to the Vosges. On the other side you have Europe’s largest glacier, the Aletsch glacier which is encased by tall peaks.

You stay overnight in Interlaken.

DAY 6

Interlaken - Montreux

You board the famous Golden Pass line from Interlaken and move to your next destination, Montreux today. The beautiful town of Montreux lies besides Lake Geneva. Interestingly, on the one side it is surrounded by vineyards and on the other you have the beautiful snow-covered Alps.

You stay overnight in Montreux.

DAY 7

Montreux - Geneva / Excursion Rochers-de-Naye

Montreux’s local mountain, Rochers-de-Naye, stands at 2042 m and this offers great stunning views of Lake Geneva and the Swiss and French Alps mountain ranges. You can reach the summit of Rochers-de-Naye, in about an hour by a cogwheel train ride.

After you return back to Montreux, you then take a train ride to Geneva. You stay overnight in Geneva.

DAY 8

Departure

Before your departure, you have some time to engage in some last-minute shopping in Geneva and then later, you board the train to the Geneva airport and you either move on to your next destination or you return home.

WHEN TO GO

April to September is generally the most recommended period to visit Switzerland. Winter has its own allure because of winter sports like skiing, snow-boarding, ice skating. The universal festivities such as Christmas and New Year are very grandly celebrated here and is a spectacle to see the Swiss streets lit up. However, the best time to plan a Switzerland trip is during summers from April end to September end to enjoy the marvellously scenic mountains that you will be vacationing amidst.
