OVERVIEW

Spain is world-renowned for its food, with Madrid and Barcelona counted among the top 10 cities in the world for food. Indulge in Spanish gastronomy while enjoying Spain's culture and history with our week long Spanish Culinary Experience. You arrive in the capital city, Madrid, and after checking out the local sights going on a tapas walking tour, you then move to Valencia. From here, you travel by train to your last destination, Barcelona, where you go around the city on an evening tapas walking tour and even visit the iconic Sagrada Familia.

  • On Day 1 and Day 2, you arrive in the capital city of Madrid and as you are on a specialized Spanish culinary experience trip, you kick start the same in Madrid going on a Tapas night walking tour and tasting local delicacies. The next day, you go sightseeing and catch the many interesting places of interest.
  • On Day 3, you move to Valencia from Madrid by train.
  • On Day 4, go around the city of Valencia, with the Valencia card, which entitles you to free and discounted access on entrance fees to many landmarks.
  • On Day 5, you travel from Valencia to Barcelona by rail and later go on an evening tapas guided walking tour, trying out local flavours and enjoying the experience.
  • On Day 6, you visit the iconic Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
  • On Day 7, your trip ends and you return home from Barcelona, Spain.

ITINERARY

DAY 1

Madrid: Madrid Tapas Night Walking Tour

Your dream tour to Spain kick starts with your arrival in Madrid. At the airport you are met by our representative and a private transfer to the hotel is arranged.

On this very exciting night walking tour, there are about 4 restaurants and bars that you will visit. Here you get to savor and try out some original Spanish specialties like an Octopus from Galicia, a chorizo in cider, cider sourced from Asturias, Andalusian sherry and many other regional delicacies and specialties.

The cost of the tour covers the first drink and tapas for free, in any of the bars you visit. Subsequently, you get to choose which bars and restaurants you want to visit and what you want to savor, drink and how much too. On this night tour, you will be accompanied by an English-speaking guide who will detail out the stories behind Madrid’s food and wine specialties. At the end of this very gratifying tour, it will be an evening well-spent.

DAY 2

Madrid: Madrid City Sightseeing Tour

After breakfast, you set out to discover the beauty and wonders of the Spanish capital city, “Madrid” in this half day guided city orientation tour.

The main highlights of the tour are a visit to the charming Square - Plaza Mayor in the heart of the city. A visit to the Puerta De Alcala, one of the five ancient royal gates which is regarded for its history and beauty. You should also make a visit to Main Street, known as the Gran Via. The guide will give you an insight about Madrid’s Moorish roots that reflects in the ancient buildings found in the old Moorish Quarter. You also get to see the famous Prado Museum (orientation only). You will pass by the Monumento de la Encarnacion, Puerta de la Opera, Puerta del Sol and other well-known sights and Squares. Not to miss are Madrid’s contemporary and neat boulevards like the Gran Vía and Paseo de la Castellana. Then, you get to visit the iconic Madrid's Royal Palace, the former home of the Spanish royal family. It is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved palaces in all of Europe. The tour also takes you through the royal armoury and pharmacy, and the Grand Hall of Columns.

DAY 3

Madrid to Valencia

You check out from the hotel and board the Eurail from Madrid to Valencia (1hr 50mins Approx.), check in to the hotel in Valencia and you have the evening free to relax.

DAY 4

Valencia

After breakfast, go around the city of Valencia, with the Valencia card. This card entitles you to free or discounted access to more than 30 museums and monuments. Not just this, you can use the public transport as many times as you want in a day and you don’t have to pay for the rides as the card entitles you to unlimited public transport usage. Additionally, the card also offers discounts that can be availed in over a 100 restaurants and stores. You also get a free guide book which offers good insight into the attractions, and services.

DAY 5

Valencia to Barcelona, Tapas Evening Walking Tour in Barcelona

After breakfast, you will checkout from the hotel and board the Eurail from Valencia to Barcelona (3hrs 20mins Approx.). On arrival, you check in to the hotel in Barcelona and you have the day free to relax. A gratifying walking evening walking tour around Barcelona has many beautiful moments locked into it. On this tour, you will get to walk through the old, historical Gothic quarters, the very vibrant Poble-sec where most of the pubs and tapas bars are found, and the Jewish Quarter. While on the tour, uncover the little secrets of the city. You also get to enjoy the nightlife in Barcelona and you also try tapas and learn more about Mediterranean cuisine and local foods and delicacies. As a part of the tour, Spanish and Catalan drinks and foods are included.

After a wonderful feast and a nice walk, you stay overnight in the hotel.

DAY 6

Barcelona: Explore Sagrada Familia

After breakfast, you have the day free at leisure, then in the afternoon, you should go to a much-visited and iconic site in Barcelona the “Sagrada Familia”. The façades and the interior of the basilica are all beautifully designed by the famed architect, Antoni Gaudi. There is an audio guide available and you will learn a little more about the Christian faith and ideology represented here. While here, check out the interiors of the place, Gaudi’s tomb, the Nativity Façade, Western Sacristy, and the many artistic works. You have the evening free on your own to enjoy in Las Ramblas Street.

DAY 7

Departure from Barcelona

Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel and you then take an airport transfer to the Barcelona Airport to catch your onward flight back to India

WHEN TO GO

Now, if you are planning a trip to Spain, the best times to visit weather-wise are the spring and fall months. As in, the months from April to June and September to October are ideal. You can travel during summer too, just that it is quite hot and places like Madrid and Seville can be very warm. If you're a die-hard foodie, anytime of the year is a good time to visit, because Spain is the land of good food and great wine. Early September is when you'll get to test taste the year’s wine harvest. So if you're a wine lover, be sure to book a food and drinks package tour during this time.
