Our 8-day self-drive holiday is designed for couples looking to explore Portugal on their own, through the golden cities of Lisbon, Coimbra and Porto. Stay for 3 nights in Lisbon and then move north and stay for 2 nights each in Coimbra and Porto.

  • From Day 1 to Day 3, you arrive in the capital city of Portugal, Lisbon and explore its contemporary culture.
  • On Day 4 and Day 5, you drive up north from Lisbon to Coimbra, a heritage city and home to one of the world's oldest universities.
  • On Day 6 and day 7, you now move to your next destination Porto, which is again a beautiful ancient city and it is home to many historical and cultural monuments.
  • On Day 8, your trip comes to a close and you return home from Porto, Portugal.

DAY 1

Arrival in Lisbon

On Day 1, you arrive in Lisbon and check in to your hotel. You stay overnight in the hotel.

DAY 2

Lisbon

After breakfast in the hotel, discover the magnificent city and unveil its history and traditions. From the most typical quarters and city monuments, Lisbon is Portugal's capital city and the hub of a multifaceted area that appeals to many different tastes and senses.

DAY 3

Lisbon

After breakfast in the hotel, you have the day free day at leisure to explore the city on your own. You stay overnight in Lisbon

DAY 4

Lisbon - Coimbra

After breakfast in the hotel, travel from Lisbon to the riverfront city of Coimbra and check in to your hotel. You stay overnight in the hotel.

DAY 5

Coimbra

After breakfast in the hotel, explore Coimbra. Coimbra is one of Portugal’s oldest cities and is home to one of the world’s first universities. It was the capital of Portugal from 1139 to 1256 AD and its University was founded in the year 1290 AD. Today, this impressive university is still one of the world’s most illustrious and the city’s biggest attractions.

You stay overnight in Coimbra.

DAY 6

Coimbra - Porto

After breakfast in the hotel, drive from Coimbra to Porto and check in to your hotel. You stay overnight in Porto.

DAY 7

Porto

After breakfast in the hotel, visit the beautiful and mysterious city of Porto. It is one of the most ancient cities in Europe and holds within it many historic and cultural monuments. Go on a unique and unforgettable tour through the “Bairro da Sé”, which is in the heart of ancient Porto and it dates back to the medieval times.

DAY 8

Departure from Porto

After breakfast in the hotel, take your flight back home.

WHEN TO GO

The best times to visit Portugal are between March and June or September to mid-November. The blooming flowers and budding leaves render an extra colour to the city’s landscape. Autumn is the wine season and also the harvest season. Summers can be hot and the beaches will be crowded. But as we move into October, the crowds reduce.
