ITINERARY

DAY 1

Arrival at Bagdogra Airport – Gangtok

Arrive at Bagdogra Airport, where you will meet our Holxo Holidays representative and transfer to Gangtok (130 kms, 4-5 hrs), the capital of Sikkim.

Check in to the hotel on arrival and stay overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2

Tsongmo Lake & Baba Mandir Excursion

After breakfast, proceed towards Tsongmo Lake (43 kms, 2 hrs) and Baba Mandir (16 kms, 1 hr from Tsongmo Lake). A must-visit place in Sikkim, Tsongmo Lake, on the Gangtok - Nathu La Highway, at an altitude of 12,400 ft and depth of 50 ft is surrounded by mountains. The lake is host to a number of migratory birds such as Brahmini Ducks. Then, visit Baba Mandir, between Jelep La and Nathu La Pass.

Return to Gangtok by the evening. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 3

Gangtok – Lachung

Today, proceed to the hill station of Lachung (124 kms, 5.5-6.5 hrs). Enroute, visit Tashi View Point to view the Kanchenjunga peak and the cascading Seven Sisters Waterfall.

Reach Lachung and stay overnight at the hotel.

DAY 4

Yumthang Valley Excursion

Today, proceed towards Yumthang Valley (25 kms, 1.5 hrs). Enroute, visit the hot spring, where the water is believed to cure diseases with its healing properties. The Valley is known for its many exotic flowers and for its Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, which blooms with Rhododendron flowers in spring. Marvel at the snow-capped peaks and grazing yaks.

Return to Lachung for your overnight stay.

Note: You can opt to visit Yumesamdong (Zero Point at 15,300 ft).

DAY 5

Lachung – Gangtok

After breakfast, drive to Gangtok (124 kms, 5.5-6.5 hrs).

On arrival, check in to the hotel and stay overnight.

DAY 6

Gangtok – Pelling

After breakfast, proceed for a half-day sightseeing tour of Gangtok. Visit Banjhakri Falls along with an important stupa, Do-rul Chhorten, (Namgyal Institute of Tibetology), Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom and Flower Exhibition Center, where the Flower Show is held.

Later, transfer to Pelling (116 kms, 5-6 hrs). Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 7

Pelling

After breakfast, proceed for a Pelling sightseeing tour covering one of the oldest and famous monasteries of Sikkim, Pemayangste Monastery, Chenrezig Statue and Skywalk. After lunch, proceed to the scenic Rimbi Waterfalls, the sacred Khecheolpalri Lake and the perennial Kanchenjunga Falls.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 8

Pelling – Darjeeling

After breakfast, transfer to Darjeeling (125 kms, 5-6 hrs), a hill station in West Bengal known for its tea plantations. Check in to the hotel and stay overnight at the hotel.

Note: You can opt to visit Singshore Bridge or Namchi & Chardham.

DAY 9

Darjeeling

Rise early and at around 4 AM, proceed on a tour to Tiger Hill (8482 ft) to capture the magnificent sunrise over the Kangchenjunga peak. After breakfast, explore local attractions of Darjeeling such as the Japanese Temple, Peace Pagoda, the famous Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tenzing & Gombu Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Center and enjoy a panoramic view of tea estates enroute.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 10

Darjeeling – Bagdogra; Departure from Bagdogra

After breakfast, transfer to NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport (100 kms, 3-4 hrs) for your journey back home.

Note: You have an option to visit Mirik, a lakeside hill station enroute.

WHEN TO GO

Though crowded during April-May, the holiday season, your visit wouldn’t be disappointing, thanks to the comfortable weather. The Kanchenjunga ranges are more clearly visible during Oct-March, which makes it the best time to visit. Yumthang Valley is closed during December-March due to heavy snowfall. Therefore, October-November and April-May are the best time to travel to this mesmerizing location.
