ITINERARY

DAY 1

Madurai

Arrive in Madurai, the lively temple town and check in to the hotel. Proceed for a temple tour to Meenakshi Amman Temple, dedicated to Goddess Parvati and her consort, Lord Shiva, with its 14 towering gopurams of which, the tallest is almost 170 feet tall. Then, visit the Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace, a 17th century palace famous for the stucco work on its domes and arches.

DAY 2

Madurai - Rameswaram (175 kms, 3 hrs drive)

After breakfast, check out from the hotel to proceed towards Rameswaram, one of the holiest places in India. Visit Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga Temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Then, visit Pamban Bridge and APJ Abdul Kalam House, the residence of the former President of India.

DAY 3

Rameswaram - Kanyakumari (325 kms, 5 hrs drive)

After breakfast, check out of the hotel to drive towards Kanyakumari on the southern tip of India, where on arrival, you will check in to the hotel. Then, visit Kanyakumari Temple followed by Thiruvalluvar Statue (Valluvar Statue), a 133 feet tall statue of the Tamil philosopher and poet, Valluvar. Also visit Vivekananda Rock Memorial built in 1970, devoted to Swami Vivekananda who is said to have attained enlightenment on the rock. Spend time at the beach before returning to the hotel.

DAY 4

Kanyakumari - Trivandrum - Kovalam (85 kms, 2 hrs drive)

After breakfast, check out of the hotel to drive to the coastal town of Kovalam. Enroute visit Padmanabhapuram Palace and drive to Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala. Visit the famous museums - The Napier Museum and Kuthiramalika Palace Museum and then, Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, with an 18 feet tall idol of Lord Vishnu.

On reaching Kovalam, rest at its idyllic beaches.

DAY 5

Kovalam

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for full day sightseeing of Kovalam. Spend the rest of the day relaxing at the beach. Kovalam has 3 beaches - Lighthouse beach, Hawah beach and Samudra Beach.

DAY 6

Kovalam - Trivandrum

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Trivandrum airport for your journey back home.
