ITINERARY

DAY 1

Madurai

Arrive at Madurai, the lively temple town and check in to the hotel. Proceed for a temple tour to Meenakshi Amman Temple, dedicated to Goddess Parvati and her consort, Lord Shiva, with its 14 towering gopurams of which, the tallest is almost 170 feet tall. Then, visit the Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace, a 17th century palace famous for the stucco work on its domes and arches.

DAY 2

Madurai - Thekkady (145 kms, 3 hrs drive)

After breakfast in the hotel, check out and proceed towards Thekkady, located on the border of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The drive will take you through spice plantations like those of black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, etc. At the Periyar National Park, enjoy an elephant safari or boating at the Periyar Lake. In the evening, watch an interesting kathakali dance performance.

DAY 3

Thekkady - Munnar (95 kms, 2 hrs drive)

After breakfast in the hotel, check out and proceed to the hill station of Munnar, former resort of the British Raj elite. On arrival, check in to the hotel, refresh and spend rest of the day enjoying the serene atmosphere of the town surrounded by rolling hills dotted with tea plantations.

DAY 4

Munnar

After breakfast in the hotel, proceed for a full day sightseeing tour of Munnar. Eravikulam National Park located around the Western Ghats is the first stop, which has been established to protect the endangered Nilgiri Thar - Goat, followed by Mattupetty Dam built in the hill. Later, proceed to Anamudi, the highest peak in Kerala and South India, standing at 2,695 metres with stunning view of the hills. Pothamedu viewpoint, famous for its sunset view will give you a gorgeous look of the valley with tea plantations around. The Tea Museum is one of its kind and traces the history and production of tea. Also, visit Rose Garden with its variety of flowers that will leave you spellbound.

DAY 5

Munnar - Alleppey (200 kms, 5 hrs hill drive)

After early breakfast in the hotel, check out and proceed to Alleppey to experience a romantic houseboat, without which a visit to Kerala is incomplete. Relax and enjoy all meals (lunch, evening tea, dinner) on the houseboat while your boat cruises through the backwaters.

DAY 6

Alleppey - Cochin (95 kms, 2 hrs drive)

After enjoying breakfast in the hotel, check out and drive to Cochin. Proceed for a sightseeing tour of Cochin, which includes Santa Cruz Basilica, Mattancherry Palace - a Portuguese palace famous for portraits of the Rajas of Kochi and some of the best Indian mythological murals. Later, visit St. Francis Church in Fort Cochin, built in 1503 and one of oldest European churches in India.

DAY 7

Cochin

After breakfast in the hotel, we transfer you to the airport/railway station for your journey back home.
