Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia are three alluring south-east Asian countries that are absolutely rich in culture, history, food, traditions, scenery, and places to visit. From stunning countryside, majestic monuments, pristine beaches, ancient monasteries and temples, to a vibrant culture and delightful cuisines, there is nothing that these travel destinations do not offer. Here is what our 11-day Laos-Vietnam-Cambodia itinerary looks like.
You will be greeted by our travel representative at the airport and transferred to a centrally-located hotel. After some rest, you will set out to visit some of the most popular sites of the largest city of Laos - Vientiane. This laid-back city is a gorgeous blend of natural settings, panoramic landscapes, meandering waterways, and a culture that’s a mix of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and American traditions.
Start the day’s tour with a visit to Wat Sisaket, the oldest and most beautiful temple in the city. It’s a Buddhist temple that houses more than a thousand Buddha statues and thus, attracts pilgrims from all over the world. Additionally, the 5-tiered-Burmese styled roof and breath-taking architecture of this edifice is quite impressive.
After this, you will be taken to another famous Buddhist temple, the royal Wat Prakeo, which previously served as a sacred home to Emerald Buddha Image. You will next head toward the highly revered structure of That Luang Stupa but have a layover to click pictures at the magnificent war monument known as Patuxai, or the Patuxay Monument.
You will return to your hotel in Vientiane for the overnight stay.
After having breakfast at the hotel, you will set out to Nam Ngum Lake, including a stopover at Ban Keun, famous for its salt extraction plant and local Lao rice wine and whisky distillation.
After you reach the Lake, you will hop on a boat ride to a handful of fishing villages in different islets. One can also get down in each village to learn about the culture and lifestyle of fishermen living in these islets. After returning and if time permits, you can head over to Lao casino located in the middle of the valley from where you can soak in the picturesque views of the lake and just be in the moment.
You will return to the city by the evening and rest in your hotel for the night.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Vientiane airport to board a flight to Hanoi, where our travel representative will welcome you on arrival and arrange for your transfer to the hotel.
After some rest, you will head out for the city tour, starting from the Temple of Literature, one of Hanoi’s most popular and picturesque attractions. You will then visit Ba Dinh Square, which is also the biggest walking area in Hanoi. It is also recommended to not miss clicking pictures at Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. The highlight of the day would definitely be the ‘cyclo’ ride across the splendorous city of Hanoi. A stopover at the Ngoc Son Temple near the Hoan Kiem Lake will be the perfect ending to an adventurous day.
After breakfast, you will start the day’s tour from Hoa Lu in the Ninh Binh Province. Hoa Lu is the former capital of Vietnam before Hanoi took over in the 11th century. Your trip will start with a rowing boat ride in Tam Coc, best known for its limestone outcrops that are scattered across the stunning green paddy fields. Tam Coc has its own unique charm that makes it one of the top highlights of your trip. After exploring other sites, including the one that gives off royal vibes of kings’ palace from the 10th century and currently serves as home to the Dinh and Le temples, you will return back to your hotel in Hanoi to spend the night.
After having a delightful breakfast, you will head towards the beautiful Halong Bay by a shuttle bus. You will then, set forth a leisure cruise to explore the beauty of this splendid Bay, also referred to as the ‘descending-dragon.’ While you cruise amid the emerald waters of the Bay, you will be in complete awe of thousands of limestone islets that are masked by rainforests that aglow in full lush.
Once the lunch is over, you can head over to the Surprising Grotto or indulge in some recreational activities, such as kayaking, swimming, pass by some floating villages and islets, or simply admire the beauty that you are surrounded with. You will then, return to the cruise for dinner and attend activities that are organized on the boat for your entertainment.
Your overnight stay will be arranged at the boat which would be docked near the Titop Beach.
After breakfast, a frolic boat ride to Luon Cave on Bo Hon Island will await you. The cave is arc-shaped and is small enough to only allow a small boat or kayak to enter its boundaries. Once the tour to the cave is over, you will head over to the Halong Bay Wharf to have some quiet and peace looking at the emerald waters of the Bay. Later, you will return to Hanoi and from there, transfer straight to the airport to fly to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). Our travel representative will be present at the airport to assist you to your hotel for the overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will drive to My Tho, one of the tourist hubs of Saigon. The place is a perfect abode for rice and coconut factories and thus, it accelerates in the production of coconut candy and rice paper.
After your arrival, you set sail on the largest river in southeast Asia, the pristine Mekong River and get up, close and personal with the local lifestyle and culture of the locals. Enjoy a horse-carting trip through the balmy roads of the villages of Vietnam. Another focal point of the day would be a light lunch by the river while enjoying the serene views of the countryside.
On your way back to Saigon, you will stop by at the Vinh Trang Pagoda, a Buddhist temple which is quite an attraction for the lovers of art and architecture. Return to the hotel for your overnight stay in Saigon.
After breakfast, you will transfer to the airport to board your flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. You will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel by our travel representative.
After some rest, you will leave your hotel to explore the beauty that Siem Reap is. You will start with the tour of the West Baray Big Pond. A ‘baray’ is a water reservoir that was built many centuries ago by the ancient Khmer people. Your next visit will be at the Wat Thmei (Killing Fields), located at the roads that lead to Angkor Wat, and best known for a single glass-sided monument exhibiting the skulls and bones of the victims of the Khmer Rouge War that were flocked together by the locals after the end of the Pol Pot regime. Your last stop will be Wat Bo, founded in the 18th century and known to house some unique and invaluable wall paintings of the Reamker (Ramayana). You will return to your hotel in the evening to spend the night.
After your breakfast, you will set out to explore the South Gate of Angkor Thom, often referred as the Big Angkor. Spread across an area of 10 kms, this Angkor Thom used to be the capital city of Khmer empire established by King Jayavarrman VII in the 12th century. This humongous city is home to numerous resplendent temples, including the Bayon Temple, which is situated in the heart of the Thom, the Royal Enclosure, the Bhapuon - the tower of bronze, the Phimeanakas - a temple mountain, and the Terrace of Elephants.
You will next visit the must visit attraction of Cambodia, Angkor Wat Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the largest religious complexes in the world, Angkor Wat is dedicated to Lord Vishnu adorned by 5 towers. A visit to the Angkor Night Market is also the part of the day’s tour. Once the tour is over, you will head back to your hotel to spend the night.
After having a delicious breakfast, you will set out for your tour to the Small Circuit. The tour includes a visit to the Ta Prohm temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Vishnu. Afterwards, you will visit the Grand Circuit tour, which comprises of a visit to Preah Khan Temple (The Sacred Sword), Neak Pean Temple, and Pre-Rup Temple, a 10-century temple that offers great sunset views, before you return to your hotel in Siem Reap for the overnight stay.
After having an appetizing breakfast at the hotel, you can spend the rest of the day at leisure before heading to the airport to catch your flight for home. Your Laos Cambodia Vietnam vacation package will come to an end after the departure of your flight.
