OVERVIEW

A visit to the charming Char Dham temples is not like a conventional pilgrimage but rather a memorable journey. However, owing to the rugged trail and the locations of the temples, this can be a gruelling one and evokes a sense of spirituality that must be experienced. The road trips are extremely thrilling as the rocky tracks run by a river running in parallel and the mountains stretching on the other side. The vast stretch of the glorious Himalayas is a treat to the eyes and the locations offer great scenic and panoramic views.

WHEN TO GO

The beautiful Char Dham Temples open their gates for darshan from mid-may and close around the end of October or the beginning of November. The exact dates also depend on the snowfall in winter. Pilgrims can opt to undertake the Char Dham Yatra anywhere from June to October. However, weather predictions show that July to September may witness heavy rainfall. Winters are not favourable for a Char Dham Yatra or if it is a must-do on one's list, then the tourism board has started a Char Dham winter schedule too.
