Vietnam Travel - Hội An

Hội An is an ancient, old town that still sits well and is regarded as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for more reasons than one. The town has a very cosmopolitan feel to it because it wears the influences of the Chinese, French, and the Americans who came here, invaded the country, and made Vietnam their home. So in more ways than one, it feels and is slightly different from the other towns and cities you may have covered for your Vietnam travel.

Hội An is a city that has so much of character and is real special. This city was once an important port and trading centre and the old quarter of the city still has some well-preserved merchant houses that date back in time. And what brought people from as far as Japan and China to Hội An? It was for the Hội An silk.

On the other end, the city is filled with many landmarks and monuments and each has a date with history. But most of all, if you really want to trace where the charm of Hội An really lies, it is in its simple, old streets with swinging lamps and lanterns, and the old buildings that gives such a special touch to the place that every Vietnam travel is incomplete without a visit here.

Tourists on a Cambodia Vietnam tour are drawn to Hội An like a magnet. Not just seeing the places but indulging in different authentic experiences, things to do and basically enjoying every moment spent in this beautiful old city.

This bridge is supposedly the only covered bridge in the world which is home to a temple too. A Buddhist temple, built in the 16th century rests here. Though most buildings in Vietnam have a strong Chinese and local flavor to it, this bridge is in every which way Japanese in nature and that is why it is also named so.
