Chakrata with Nag Tibba Trek is an active holiday itinerary that combines adventure activities with an excellent overnight camping experience. Here you explore the beautiful Yamuna valley. You do hiking through villages / waterfalls, stop for picnic lunches around pristine backdrops and scale the renowned Nag Tibba peak (10000 ft asl). All through the trip you experience a panorama of high Himalayan peaks while also enjoying a wide range of activities such as rafting, river crossing, kayaking, body surfing, etc.

Ride the rapids of the Yamuna
Day 1: Dehradun Airport/ Railway Station and drive to Viraatkhai Camp Arrive at Dehradun and travel to Viraatkhai (6000 ft asl - 100 kms - 3.5 hours). Viratkhaai is a hillside hamlet that lies 17 kms short of Chakrata with topography that is perfect for adventure activities. You arrive by lunch time and after lunch you meet your instructors. You first get into understanding the nuances of rock and rope climbing. Spend a couple of hours at it and by the evening you may already be climbing rock faces in the area. Later in the evening you enjoy bonfire before dinner.
Day 2: Viraatkhai – Chaurani - Viraatkhai Today you trek (4-5 hrs) to Chaurani Village with picnic lunch. From the camp, we start the trek to Chaurani, the trail goes towards the north where you can view soaring Himalayan ranges like Black peak, and Swargarohini. You walk for another 1 km on the Mussoorie Chakrata trail. The trail continues through oak and rhododendron forest. Here is an opportunity to spot Babbler, Blue Whistling thrush, Magpie Robbin, Tree pie, Woodpecker, etc. From here the hike is a gradual uphill. After 15-20 mins, you reach the second ridge, where you stop for a short break. From here, you can see the Jaunsar region. There are several houses called Channi here that are used as a shelter for cattle. Further on, the trail weaves through the rich forest of Deodar and Bluepine. After walking for 45 mins you reach Chaurani ridge. Witness the Great Himalayan ranges towards the north and Doon Valley down south. Here, we have a fun filled picnic lunch. After having lunch, you can choose to walk down or drive down to the lodge.
Day 3: Hike to Tiger Falls Today you drive to Chakrata town (7000 ft asl - 25 kms) and hike down (3-4 hours) to see the famous Tiger Falls. The hike is mostly downhill and fairly easy. This region is home to the Jaunsar-Bawar tribes. If someone does not want to hike, the falls are also accessible by car (requiring a short walk of 30 mins to reach the falls). You spend some time at the falls before returning to the lodge.
Day 4: Travel to Nag Tibba Base - Kathyan and trek The day starts at Pantwari village, which lies in the upper fringes of Mussoorie, a 2 hour drive from the lodge. This is the base point for the Nag Tibba trek. Our trip leader, an experienced outdoor professional meets you here to take you through some orientation about the region and what to expect over the next 2 days. The climb to Nag Tibba base is a mild 2 hours trek at an easy pace to reach your overnight campsite. In the evening enjoy dinner around a bonfire.
Day 5: Trek to Nag Tibba Top After enjoying the views of a misty hill in the morning, we climb to the top of the Nag Tibba peak. Today, our expert gives you tips on using the compass and other ways of navigating on a trek. You trek for 4 hours before reaching the top. You have lunch at Nag Tibba before walking back to the campsite (3 hours). Enroute, a naturalist will orient you about the flora and fauna of the region. Back at the campsite, the recreation team will have games organised.
Day 6: Walk to Pantwari and drive to Yamuna Bridge for adventure sports before departure Today you trek to the Pantwari village and will then be driven to reach Yamuna Bridge. Here you indulge in exciting activities such as swimming through a small rapid, rafting, river crossing, duckie rides, bridge slithering, body surfing, stream walks, etc. After spending some time here, you will depart to Dehradun for a flight / train to your onward destination.
