ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Switzerland
You arrive in Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s storybook towns. You spend the remainder of the day on your own and go about discovering the Old Town. The Old Town area is situated along the River Reuss, and tourists seem to visit here in droves since the year 1840 AD, all because of its attractions like the neatly maintained and preserved, Chapel Bridge and the Water Tower.

You stay overnight stay in Lucerne.

Day 2: Lucerne and Mount Pilatus
You take a cruise across the Lake Lucerne to Alpnachstad and then changeover and get on the steepest cogwheel train in the world up to Mount Pilatus. While on this you enjoy an unforgettable view from the gondolas and aerial cableway that carries you all the way to the summit of Mount Pilatus (2,132m). You watch over the surrounding mountains and lakes and enjoy a short lunch or hike to the summit.

You stay overnight stay in Lucerne.

Day 3: Lucerne - St. Moritz
You board the train which will take you to the world-famous holiday resort of St. Moritz. Here you enjoy some magnificent scenery that Switzerland has to offer. The train will now move over the Oberalp Pass (2,033 m) and through the magnificent Rhine Gorge. After an awe-inspiring trip, you arrive in St. Moritz.

Day 4: St. Moritz to Zermatt (The Glacier Express)
Today, you travel to Zermatt on the famous Glacier Express. Zermatt is situated at the foothills of the Matterhorn. Tourists’ throng this place owing to its proximity to the Matterhorn Mountain. The place retains its old-world character and it is still a car-free spot.

You stay overnight in Zermatt.

Day 5: Zermatt, Gornergrat and Matterhorn
During the ride to the summit of Gornergrat, don’t miss the views of the magnificent Matterhorn Mountain and just take some moments capturing the scenic beauty.

Gornergrat is situated about 3km east of Zermatt in the Swiss canton of Valais. It rests between the Gornergletscher and Findelgletscher glaciers and it offers unending, mesmerizing views of more than 24,000 metre peaks around here. A couple of highest peaks around here are the Dufourspitze (Monte Rosa massif), Matterhorn, Liskamm, Weisshorn, and Dom.

You stay overnight in Zermatt.

Day 6: Interlaken
The resort town of Interlaken lies in the Bernese Oberland. The place neatly sits between two lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. It is also in the heart of the famous Mount Jungfrau and offers great views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau summits. You have the day free at leisure.

You stay overnight at the hotel in Interlaken.

Day 7: Interlaken / Jungfraujoch
You embark on an excursion to the Jungfraujoch from Interlaken. This is the highest train station in Europe at 3454 m. The place feels every bit like a winter wonderland. As you arrive here, the cold, icy air streams blow across your face and you are captivated by the beautiful environs. On one side, it is the eye-catching views of the Mittelland all the way up to the Vosges. On the other side you have Europe’s largest glacier, the Aletsch glacier which is encased by tall peaks.

You stay overnight in Interlaken.

Day 8: Departure
Your trip comes to a close and you leave from Interlaken to Zurich airport for your onward journey home.

WHEN TO GO

April to September is generally the most recommended period to visit Switzerland. Especially if you are planning a vacation with family and children, but Switzerland happens to have something to offer to everyone irrespective of what season you come to vacation there! Winter has its own allure because of winter sports like skiing, snow - boarding, ice skating. The universal festivities such as Christmas and New Year are something that is very grandly celebrated here and is a spectacle to see the Swiss streets lit up. However, the best time to plan a Switzerland trip is during summers from April end to September end to enjoy the marvellously scenic mountains that you will be vacationing amidst.
