Day 1: Arrive at Dehradun and travel to Sursingdhar Arrive at Dehradun and proceed to Sursingdhar, a hamlet near New Tehri area (6000+ ft asl - 3-4 hrs drive) renowned for its offbeat character and adventure activities. After settling in, the trip leader takes you through a small briefing on what to expect during the trip. The afternoon is reserved for an easy introduction to the local flora and fauna with an expert naturalist. You may join optional rope-based activities. In the evening, you enjoy barbecue over a bonfire in the backdrop of light music.
Day 2: Around Sursingdhar The day begins with warming your hands on a warm cup of tea, while a stunning row of Himalayan peaks emerge slowly from behind the clouds. The view is mesmerizing and will leave you in awe. Thereafter, you walk through a short-pine filled forested trail to hone your navigational instincts with our orienteering activity (a navigation-based exercise). Later in the day, you embark on an easy cycle ride around the mountains (along with a backup vehicle). After an active day in the hills, the evening is for you enjoy a private karaoke session over bonfire.
Day 3: Travel to Kund Today, you drive to the scenic village of Kund (3000 ft asl - 150 kms - 5 hours), a riverside area and base point to explore Chopta Valley. Later in the day you enjoy water-based activities under expert guidance such as bridge slithering and river crossing. You return to the camp for a quiet dinner.
Day 4: Trek to Deoria Tal and back to Chalkot Today, you set out on the hike to the beautiful Deoria Tal Lake (8000 ft asl). Based on your inclination and ability, we can either pick a shorter trail of 2.5 km (2 hrs) or 8 kms (6 hrs). You will pass through villages, wooded trails, lush flora and enjoy the backdrop of the Chaukhamba peak. You will arrive at the lake for lunch and spend the evening in the riveting natural surroundings. Standing on the edge of the still waters of the lake and taking pictures of the brilliant 360-degree view of the Himalayan ranges is an amazing experience. After spending some time here, we head to Chalkot Camp which is perched on a grassy meadow offering magnificent views of snow capped mountains.
Day 5: Chopta Valley - Tungnath - Chandrashila - Kund Today, you drive to the famous ‘Mini-Switzerland of India’, Chopta (7000 ft asl), known for a variety of bird life, meadows and superb Himalayan views. You spend a large part of the day here, either relaxing in the meadows or hiking up to the Tungnath temple (11000 ft asl - 4-5 hours). For those of you who like an extra challenge, you can also trek up to Chandrashila (13000 ft asl), which is another hour from Tungnath temple. In the evening, you drive for 1.5 hours to reach the mountain lodge in Kund.
Note: Tungnath (1000+ years old) is the highest Shiva temple in the world.
Day 6: Kund - Jayalgarh Today, you enjoy a morning bird watching session with an expert. Both first time and regular bird watchers will be awed by the birdlife near the lodge. Kund is home to one of the largest varieties of endemic species of birds. Thereafter, you drive down to the Jayalgarh camp (80 kms - 2-3 hours drive), a riverside camp by the Alaknanda, renowned for its water-based activities and rafting. The rest of the day is reserved for duckie rides, cliff jumping and body surfing. All this will be done with experienced river guides. In the evening, you enjoy a hearty barbeque fare with some live music.
Day 7: Depart from Jayalgarh to Haridwar / Dehradun In the morning, you head for rafting in the Alaknanda River. After rafting, you proceed to Haridwar / Dehradun Railway Station / Airport (110 kms - 3 hours from Dehradun Airport) for onward departure.
