Day 1: Arrive at Yuksom Today you arrive at Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Station and drive to Yuksom (5500 ft - 170 kms - 6 hours) in West Sikkim, one of the greenest places in the world and one that is recognised by UNESCO as a heritage site for its biodiversity. You reach by the evening. The rest of the evening you can spend at leisure.
Day 2: Around Yuksom Today you take a break from conventional breakfast to pick some fresh veggies from the kitchen garden to get them cooked for you. After a delightful organic breakfast, you visit the town of Yuksom. You visit a small holy lake and the Coronation Throne (where the first king of Sikkim, then a separate country, was crowned following a holy ceremony). As you proceed towards the upper village, you reach a few gigantic boulders. You can climb up and sit at the rock to get panoramic views of the transcendent valleys that dissolve into the horizon. An option of abseiling and bouldering is also available for those seeking a bit of adventure. In the evening, you head to a beautiful waterfall rushing into a pool of clear waters. After spending some time, you return to the hotel / guest house.
Day 3: Yuksom - Khechuperi Lake Today, you go for a day hike to the holy lake of Khechuperi. Starting from your hotel in Yuksom, you climb down to the Rathong River, crossing a small Lepcha village. Here, you cross the river and hike up to Leythang, a spot where you will experience the wonder of nature, a singing stone, which rings like a bell if struck by another stone. Moving further, you come across a few more villages, a hanging bridge and a few more streams before arriving at the magnificent lake. Filled with mysterious fishes and water animals, Khechuperi is as an important feature for the local communities. Spend some time at the holy lake before heading towards a beautiful homestay, where you will spend the night. One can try the local wine made out of millet, in a traditional tumbler, called Tumba. A mild brew, just enough to take away the fatigue of the day.
Day 4: Khechuperi - Pelling - Ravangla Today, you head to Ravangala via Pelling. Pelling (6000 ft) is a beautiful town in the foothills of Mount Kachenjunga, and renowned for the Pemayangtse monastery. Ravangala (7000 ft) is a popular tourist destination due to its rich flora and fauna, picturesque views, culture and ancient monasteries. In Ravangala, spend time on a sightseeing trip to Buddha Park and Temi Tea garden. You return to your Ravangala hotel by evening.
Day 5: Ravangla - Gangtok Today, you drive to Gangtok (3 hours). Gangtok (5000 ft) is the capital of Sikkim and is a popular holiday destination. The rest of the day is for you to explore Gangtok on your own.
Day 6: Gangtok - Nathu La / Tsomgo lake - BabaMandir - Gangtok Today, you will retrace the old silk route and drive up to the magnificent altitudes of Nathu La (14000+ ft). The road moves through varied terrains and landscapes, crossing over the tree line of the Sikkim Himalayas and reaches atop the pass connecting the Indian state of Sikkim with Tibet. Spend some time at the pass and drive to Tsomgo Lake (3780 m) and Baba Mandir. On the way, you can buy some Chinese goods, as this is the major spot for trade between the two countries. Further, you drive back to Gangtok.
Day 7: Departure from Bagdogra/ NJP Drive to Bagdogra or New Jalpaiguri and head to your onward destination.
