You leave the coastline early morning, travelling to the Plaine des Cafres, stopping at the Nez de Boeuf, the Commerson crater, and the Plaine des Sables (Sand Plain). From the Pas de Bellecombe, which stands at more than 2300m altitude, you get a good view of the main crater of Piton de la Fournaise. Later, you visit the old Rum Museum, the Saga du Rhum which offers an interesting historical, cultural and sensory experience.

After passing through the Marsouins Cirque (Bébour forest), you cross the Plaine des Palmistes towards the East to Sainte Anne, the gateway to the Wild South.

The highlight of your tour is Piton de La Fournaise, meaning, "Peak of the Furnace". It is located on the Reunion Island’s eastern side in the Indian Ocean. Piton de la Fournaise is one of the most active volcanoes in the world! Interestingly, it is over 500,000 years old and it is still considered a young volcano. Though not a danger, the volcano is still active! Most volcanoes in the Reunion Island find a similarity to the volcanoes in the Hawaiian Islands as the volcanoes there too are active and not explosive.

On return to the hotel, you stay overnight here.

The Mafate village is not easy to reach and can only be reached by foot. And that is why catching a glimpse of it from Piton Maïdo is very gratifying and fulfilling. The Saint Paul Market is a popular market on the island, and a visit here gives you a better understanding about the Creole lifestyle that exists on the island.

Later, transfer back to the hotel and stay overnight here.
