OVERVIEW

The Scandinavian countries of Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland are still considered faraway, exotic lands. So, if you are planning the best getaway as a couple, in beautiful, quiet environs, then this 2-week trip is perfect. You arrive in the Dutch capital of Copenhagen and as you embark on this 14-day trip, there are city tours, beautiful ferry rides, discovering the Norwegian fjords and exploring the locale. You travel around by air, water and train. And, as the engaging trip draws to a close, you have seen so much of this beauteous land and had a great time together.

  • On Day 1 and Day 2, you arrive in Copenhagen, Denmark and you go on a city tour.  
  • From Day 3, you leave Copenhagen and go on an overnight ferry to Oslo.
  • On Day 4 and Day 5, you spend it in Oslo, the first day, you get to spend in leisure and the following day, you go on an Oslo city tour.
  • On Day 6, you embark on your Norway in a Nutshell adventure to Flåm. This magnificent train journey takes you through some inimitable landscapes and terrain, and the journey by itself is fantastic. You retire for the night in Flåm.
  • On Day 7 and Day 8, you continue the train journey and it now takes you to the Heritage City, Bergen. The following day, you go on a city tour around Bergen.
  • On Day 9 and Day 10, you fly into Stockholm and the next day you go on a Stockholm city tour.
  • On Day 11 and Day 12, you travel overnight on the Tallinn Silja ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki to and upon arrival in Helsinki you have time to do things in leisure.
  • On Day 13, on you go on a Helsinki city tour exploring the sights and enjoying local flavors and foods.
  • On Day 14, your trip comes to a close and you return home from Helsinki, Finland.

ITINERARY

DAY 1

Arrive in Copenhagen

You arrive in Copenhagen by flight. Transfer to a hotel by a private vehicle. You stay overnight in a hotel in Copenhagen.

DAY 2

Copenhagen Panorama Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, you embark on a Copenhagen Panorama tour on seat in coach basis. You stay overnight in a hotel in Copenhagen.

While on the Copenhagen Panorama Tour, you see the City Hall, the Parliament building, you visit the Amalienborg Palace, which is where the royal family resides. You also visit the Copenhagen Stock Exchange, the Gefion fountain, Little Mermaid and other interesting landmarks and places of interest.

DAY 3

Overnight Ferry to Oslo

After breakfast at the hotel, you transfer to a pier by a private vehicle to catch the DFDS ferry to Oslo. You travel overnight in the ferry (Interior Cabin)

DAY 4

Spend the Day in Leisure in Oslo

You arrive in Oslo. Transfer to a hotel by a private vehicle and you spend the day in leisure. You stay overnight in a hotel in Oslo.

DAY 5

Oslo Selected Highlights Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, you go on an Oslo Selected Highlights tour on seat in coach basis. While in Oslo, you visit the Town House, the House of Parliament, the Royal Palace and the imposing Akershus fortress. A not to miss is the splendid Vigeland Sculpture Park. A visit to the famed Karl Johan Street completes it. Later, you visit the Viking Ship Museum. This is home to the well-preserved, old Viking Ships from a bygone era. A lot of artifacts and relics dating back to the Viking period can be found here.

DAY 6

Norway in a Nutshell Adventure to Flåm

After breakfast at the hotel, you transfer from the hotel to the station to board the train and embark on the scenic Norway in a Nutshell Adventure. You arrive in Flåm and stay overnight in a hotel there.

This tour lets you experience the quintessence of what the Norwegian fjords, the mountains and valleys are really like. This roundtrip makes for a very memorable journey that takes you through beautiful and scenic locales like the Fjord Norway, awe-inspiring experiences on the Bergen Railway, the Flåm Railway, the Aurlandsfjord, the Nærøyfjord and the steep Stalheimskleiva road.

DAY 7

Norway in a Nutshell Adventure to Bergen

After breakfast at the hotel, continue on your Norway in a Nutshell journey towards Bergen. You arrive in Bergen, transfer from the station to the hotel by a private vehicle.

DAY 8

Bergen City card – Hop-On Hop-Off Tour

After breakfast in the hotel, explore the city on your own with a Bergen city card - valid for 24 hours. With this card, you can take a hop on hop off tour, visiting the many landmarks and places to see. Bergen is a globally appealing town but it retains its small-town feel and charisma well. It is bounded by verdant mountains. Some of the attractions here are the Hanseatic wharf Bryggen which seems to be straight out of a picture postcard. The neat, pastel-colored wooden houses, the long, winding cobblestone paved streets, and the Old Bergen area are places of interest that one must visit while in Bergen. You can also visit the harbor, the fish market and the 12th century, Romanesque church - St. Mary’s church are other places of interest. And if shopping is on your mind, there are many outlets you can go shopping in.

There’s another interesting experience to indulge in while in Bergen. Enjoy a fun ride on the Funicular train and ride up to the top of the mountain.

DAY 9

Departure from Bergen to Stockholm

After breakfast in the hotel, you transfer to the airport for your flight to Stockholm. On arrival, you check into the hotel and you stay overnight in the hotel in Stockholm.

DAY 10

Stockholm City Tour

You have breakfast in the hotel. You then embark on a Stockholm Panorama tour on SIC basis. You proceed for a tour of the Swedish capital accompanied by an experienced local English-speaking guide. You get to see the impressive City Hall. It is stunning both in terms of artistic trimmings and its interesting architecture. Every year, the Nobel Prize banquet takes place here. You also get to visit the Royal Palace and the Cathedral. After this, you visit the Old Town area which is well-known for its charming, narrow lanes and streets that is said to be around from the Middle Ages.

DAY 11

Overnight Ferry to Helsinki

After breakfast at the hotel, you transfer to the pier by a private vehicle to catch the Tallinn Silija ferry to Helsinki. This is an overnight ferry. You are given an interior cabin where you can retire for the night.

DAY 12

Arrival in Helsinki

You arrive in Helsinki and you are taken to the hotel. After check-in, the day can be spent in leisure on your own. You stay overnight in a hotel in Helsinki.

DAY 13

Helsinki Panorama City Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, you go on the Helsinki Panorama audio city tour on SIC basis. Your Helsinki city orientation tour takes you to the Modern Finlandia Hall, the City Hall, the Parliament House, the Presidential Palace, the charming railroad station, the Helsinki Cathedral, Olympic Stadium and the Sibelius monument. A not to miss is a visit to the Market Square, where you can find vendors and stores filled with fresh food, knickknacks and souvenirs.

DAY 14

Departure from Helsinki

Your beautiful trip comes to a close and an airport transfer from the hotel, takes you to the airport.

WHEN TO GO

The Scandinavian countries comprise of Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Iceland. Considering the cold winters and freezing temperatures, the best times to visit these Nordic regions is definitely, the spring-summer seasons. And this would typically be the months from April or May to September. However, if you want to see the Northern lights, the winter months between November and February are just perfect.
