Kumaon Pilgrimage

OVERVIEW

The ancient ruins of the Temples at Kumaon date back to over 1000 years back. The architecture and divinity come with a simplistic touch. They vary in their distinctive features but are nevertheless eye-catching. From the peaceful Mukteshwar and Berinag to the intriguing Jageshwar and Patal Bhubaneshwar, the temples are quite the attraction.

Devotees of Lord Shiva throng in multitudes to the famous Jageshwar temple. Believed to be one of the twelve Jyothirlingas of Lord Shiva, it has great significance in Hindu mythology and is held high as per religious beliefs and sentiments.

However, it is still open to travellers.  Autumn season in October and November makes for clear skies thus making it quite favourable to plan a visit. But the snowy winters in December may block some routes on the way making it a cumbersome journey. Nevertheless, the snow cover is a striking view and a great experience.
