Madurai is a lively temple town that hosts the magnificent and imposing, Meenakshi temple. The Meenakshi temple houses 14 gopurams, of which the tallest is almost 170 feet tall. The temple was also one of the 30 nominees for the new 7 wonders of the world. You need to spend a good few hours here to absorb the spirituality of the temple. Madurai is also home to the most delicious cuisine and the best street food.

Rameshwaram temple overlooks the mighty Bay of Bengal and offers incredible views of the ocean. Dhanushkodi beach is famously known for the fact that Lord Rama and his army crossed over from this very point to get to Sri Lanka. Apart from this, the beach is a great place to visit nonetheless.
