Aurangabad, in Maharashtra was built in the 16th century and named after the Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb, and it is popularly referred to as the “City of Gates”  

In this “Tourism Capital of Maharashtra” you can find thefamous ancient caves, Ajanta and Ellora. The caves are intricately carved and are a sheer display of craftsmanship of the local artisans that dates back to more than 2000 years.

Another wonderful site to visit when in Aurangabad is the Bibi ka Maqbara which is a classical and ancient monument, built grandiosely to match up to the grandeur of Taj Mahal built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.

The drive from Aurangabad to Ellora and Ajanta caves is marvelous as you go through beautiful countryside and is perfect for those who are interested in photography.
