Day 1 - Arrive at Chandigarh and travel to Narkanda You arrive at Chandigarh and travel to Narkanda (8000 ft asl - 170 kms - 4 hours). Narkanda is a Himalayan hamlet 60 kms from Shimla, offering an orchard character with superb views and is an excellent stopover for travellers enroute to Sangla Valley. You reach Narkanda by afternoon / evening (depending on your arrival flight / train). Note: If time permits, you may undertake some walks around the countryside to get acclimatised with high altitude.
Day 2 - Travel to Sangla via Sarahan Today you travel to Sangla (9000 ft asl - 153 kms - 4 hours), a Himalayan destination offering riverside character with stunning close-range Himalayan view backdrop. Enroute you take a detour of 17 kms to visit Bhimkali Temple Complex at Sarahan (One of the Shaktipeetha Temples). You arrive at Sangla by late afternoon. Rest of the day is for you to spend on your own admiring stunning views and surrounding countryside.
Day 3 - Morning Rakcham Walk and Afternoon Visit to Chitkul Today you take a morning walk to Rakscham Village (4 km one way) through pristine woods and riverside. Enroute, you stopover at river streams for some of the best photography opportunities. You return to the hotel by lunch time. In the afternoon, you undertake a 24 km (1 hour) drive to Chitkul, the last village before the Indo-Tibetan check post and one offering the most stunning Himalayan views. The area is windy and it's a bit of an adventure to walk to the check post (1.5 km one way).
Day 4 - Kalpa Excursion Today you undertake an excursion to Kalpa (9800 ft asl), a temple town, renowned for its Himalayan views. Kalpa sits atop Reckong Peo, the only town in Upper Kinnaur region. After some exploration in town and street shopping, you return to Sangla by the afternoon. You spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 5 - Explore on own Today is a day for you to go on more walks, undertake activities by the riverside or just laze around or consider a full day trek.
Day 6 - Travel to Shoja. Afternoon Walk to Waterfall Today you travel to Shoja (8500 ft asl - 180 kms - 6 hours), a Himalayan destination just 5 kms from Jalori Pass, renowned for its stunning close-range Himalayan views, village walks and an experiential character. You will arrive by late afternoon. Rest of the day is for you to spend at leisure enjoying the views and the countryside character of Shoja.
Day 7 - Full Day Walk with Picnic Lunch Today you undertake a full day walk with picnic lunch. The walk will take you to Jalori Pass, nearby waterfalls, villages and superb pine forest trails to a hilltop view point. You will be able to photograph some exotic birds enroute, visit villages and interact with ever smiling visitors. You return by late afternoon.
Day 8 - Depart for Chandigarh Today you depart for Chandigarh (260 kms - 7 hours) for onward train / flight departure.
